Fees

I offer a free first session for us to get to know one another. This is where you will have space to bring any issues or concerns that you’d like to address, either in counselling, or about the counselling itself. I will listen carefully to what you’d like to bring with the aim that at the end of this hour, we will both be in a better position to know if we would like to work together more fully. This is also the time where I will give you more information about my approach to counselling and psychotherapy, should you wish it.

Fees:
Free initial appointment.
After this, fees are on a sliding scale from £50-60 depending on financial resources

I use the Worts and Cunningfolk Green Jar method

Concession – I am not always able to meet my basic needs, and I have no savings.

Bottom of the Scale: 50

  • I frequently stress about meeting basic needs. I have debt and it sometimes prohibits me from meeting my basic need. I rent lower-end properties or have unstable housing. I do not have a car and/or have limited access to a car but I am not always able to afford fuel

  • I am unemployed or underemployed. I have no access to savings and I have no or very limited expendable income. I rarely buy new items because I am unable to afford them

    Middle of the Scale: 55

    • I may stress about meeting my basic needs but still regularly achieve them. I may have some debt but it does not prohibit attainment of basic needs

    • I own or lease a car. I am employed. I have some expendable income. I am able to buy some new items & I thrift others

    Top of the Scale: 60

    • I am comfortably able to meet all of my basic* needs. I may have some debt but it does not prohibit attainment of basic needs. I own my home or property OR I rent a higher-end property. I own or lease a car

    • I am employed or do not need to work to meet my needs. I have access to financial savings. I have an expendable** income and I can always buy new items

    * Basic Needs include food, housing, health care, and transportation.
** Expendable Income might mean you are able to buy coffee or tea at a shop, go to the movies or a concert, buy new clothes, books, and similar items each month, etc.

    .
I always hold two spaces at £25 a session, as lower-cost place for people in hardship (low income, or in receipt of benefits for example). Please make it clear that you would need this at the time of booking as these spaces are often already being utilised.

    Pay it forward:
I also maintain a ‘pay it forward’ bursary fund. This means that if you feel that you can afford to pay a little extra, you can request it to go in to the bursary fund, which will enable me to lower my price for someone who would otherwise struggle to pay my fee. You can pay it forward at any payment level, with any extra payment that you wish.
